Making Your Mind Up

1. James Fox - Hold On To Our Love - 120 points
With smouldering good looks James Fox crooned his way in a Bryan Adams meets Mickey Harte style. The song is a rather dated anthemic ballad in the tradition of Mull Of Kintyre. A song Eurofans will not go for but it could have big public appeal as it ran away with the voting by the UK public. James was a contestant in the BBC programme Fame Academy.
2. Hyrise - Leading Me On - 80 points
A very professional boy band seemingly made up of cast-offs from other boy bands, Hyrise gave a very competent performance of this above average pop song. Well sung and sounding good on stage this could have done well in a 'Cyprus 2002' sort of way at Eurovision.
3. Madison Taylor - It Just Gets Better - 59 points
Singing last Madison promised us it just gets better. Unfortunately it was not to be, a very pretty singer and oozing much talent, Madison did her best with a mid-tempo song of extraordinary ordinariness.
4. Enrap-ture - Weekend (Gotta Work) - 37 points
The first on stage, a bouncy collection of feisty black girls with attitude. The song was up-tempo and catchy with a cheesy Euro-style hook that somehow was lost on the voting public.
5. Haydon - With You I Believe - 17 points
Haydon was arguably the most famous singer being in boy band Ultimate Kaos and resurfacing in the come-back show Reborn In The USA. He was another talented singer and this ballad in the style of 'I Believe I Can Fly' attempted to rise to a climax but failed to have that WOW factor.
6. Haifa - Me Without You - 9 points
A very pretty singer and another ex Pop Idol entrant, Haifa gave a perfect performance of a less than perfect song that was really going nowhere.
